The translator’s job during the COVID-19 pandemic

In this crisis caused by COVID-19, Italy keeps trying to prevent and stem the spread of the infection by making the most of ministerial decrees and remote job opportunities.

The same rule it applies to the Translation and Transcription sector: professionals continue to work. How?  Smart Working.

With remote work, translation tasks can take place rom home or anywhere else. This allows the Teams to conduct their business safely.

The word COVID-19 is a daily constant in our lives, but it is above all a media multilingual and multicultural phenomeno. As translators and interpreters, it is seen as a new challenge: how to understand it, make it all understandable, and translate the new concepts related to the pandemic?

After all, how do you “survive” the labor and social crisis that has been caused in all sectors?

However, the global dimension of the crisis has also had a positive implications in the sector: first

of all, the constant growth in demand for translation services in health care and research.

This has allowed the collaboration of professionals from different countries, who have been able to facilitate the exchange of information in different languages in a short time.

COVID-19 has also led to an increase in the online demand in various sectors internationally: from clothing to publishing.

That is why e-commerce, domains, and multilingual sites have become fundamental.

Companies recognize the need to have a service translated into multiple languages,  in order to allow the growth of their customer portfolio internationally.

In short, the translation sector seems to remain active due to the flexibility that has always distinguished it and that has emerged even more in this period of crisis.
