Which are the most useful Languages to learn?

When it comes to communication, every language is indeed useful, but some are more useful than others. For example, in the gastronomy market learning French can give you some essential knowledge for your work, but it won’t have the same effect if you want to start a business in tourism or tech.

Taking into account how society is built today, it is impossible to pick only one language that is more convenient than the rest. What we surely can do, is tell which are the most beneficial for you and why you should learn at least one of them.

The easy answer: English

You may have heard that English is the most popular language even when it’s not the most widely spoken in the world. How is that possible? The answer is simple: it is the most commonly spoken second language around the globe.

In more than 55 countries English is the second language for the majority of its population. That is because it is the best tool to establish diplomatic relations and settle trading agreements. In addition, most of the computing programs are originally designed in English.

¿The language of the future?

Nowadays, more than 1,3 billion people around the world speak Mandarin Chinese. And even though, most of its speakers live in Asia, it is one of the most useful languages to learn if you are interested in international business. The main reason for this is that today China is the leader of the global economy.

According to Babbel Magazine, the top ten most spoken languages around the world are:

  1. Chinese – 1,3 billion
  2. Spanish – 471 million
  3. English – 370 million
  4. Hindi – 342 million
  5. Arabic – 315 million
  6. Portuguese – 232 million
  7. Bengali – 229 million
  8. Russian – 154 million
  9. Japanese – 126 million
  10. Lahnda – 118 million

Learning every language is more of an impossible task rather than an easy dream. For this reason, companies like EPLS offer translation and interpretation services with highly qualified interpreters that have every tool needed to help you communicate with the world.
